Byron 10cm Steiff-Schulte Mohair Thread-jointed Bear Kit

Byron's kit will enable you to create this charming mini mohair bear with thread jointed limbs and inset ultrasuede footpads. Size: 10cm. Designed by Di Sturgess. Skill Level: 2. Some bearmaking skills required. Hand or machine stitched. Byron kit includes: Pattern: Step-by-step instructions, pattern sheet and photo. Fabric: Short pile Schulte mohair - size: approx. 16cm x 20cm. Teddy colour. Ultrasuede: size 7cm x 2cm for footpads. Note: no pawpads. Eyes: One pair 3mm black onyx beads or glass eyes. Joints: None – as thread jointed. Nose/Mouth: 0.50cm Length of #8 or #12 black Perle embroidery thread. Note: Hollofibre filling is not included in the kit. Have the following on hand to complete Byron: Template sheet (or recycle/re-use cereal boxes by pasting your pattern on and cutting the shapes out) Scissors for cutting template shapes. Gel pen for tracing around the templates on the mohair backing. Small sharp scissors for cutting the fabrics. Sewing thread in colours to match the backing of the fabrics. Pins. General sewing needles as well as a darner needle for embroidering the nose and a longer needle for inserting the glass eyes. Bearmakers floss or strong thread for attaching the glass eyes and for thread jointing. Awl to make small hole for eyes. An optional, but useful tool to have: haemostats or forceps, to fill those “awkward-to-get-to” places! Hollofibre filling to provide shape. Note: Byron is a collectable bear and not suitable for young children due to small parts.
